I was sitting at my keyboard tonight playing “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” It is such a beautiful song and one I would like to learn to play well, so I’m practicing it.
As I played, I thought about the words. Do we relegate our God to one hour a day? And how often do we spend a full hour praying to our Lord?
1 Thess 5 : 17 (KJV)
Pray without ceasing.
Personally, I believe in praying throughout the day. I petition Him with things great and small and ask His guidance and advice, but I fail. I try to do things on my own strength and I forget to pray at times. I fall asleep in the middle of my nightly prayers or forget to thank Him before I eat.
Yet, He remains faithful. When I do send up those prayers, He is listening. Attentive as always, wanting to be closer to me. Directing me to follow His will. Reminding me that everything I need to know is found in His holy word and that the Holy Spirit will guide me in understanding it. All I need to do is keep the lines of communication open by praying and reading my King James Bible. Reading it through a few times could never be enough. Just as I need daily prayers, I need daily time in His word. He gave it to us, so that we would never be without answers.
John 16 : 13 (KJV)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
So, as I sit here typing this devotional, I thank Him for the word He preserved for us and I trust Him to guide and direct me through it. And I trust Him to not only hear my prayers, but to listen and answer them.

Elle E. Kay shares thoughts on prayer
I, too, pray all day and night. But, I also have times that I forget to go to Him first. I start praying and get distracted. I am so thankful that God loves me and always listens to me. He knows my heart and He forgives me when I get distracted. Thank you for this great message today. 🙂
Thanks Melissa!
